Magnificent wins for Terry, Tucker and Jim were enough to earn both Aggregate points and tie the difficult looking match at Hallam Grange (on Tuesday 18th July) in Division D of the Hallamshire League. Although Meersbrook Park lost the other 5 singles matches, all 5 were narrow defeats and so contributed valuable aggregate scores that meant the match was tied 5-5. This was a great result for the MP’s against a team 4th in the table and was made even better by the news that Nether Edge, our only realistic rivals in the fight to survive relegation, lost 9-1.

With 3 matches remaining, Meersbrook Park still need to make up 7 points on Nether Edge. One of our games is at home to champions elect, Whitely Woods and anything gained from that fixture will be a bonus. However the other two games are at bottom placed Crookes Social and a critical final fixture at home to Nether Edge.
