The staggering improvement in Meersbrook Park’s Friday Night Works League performances continued for the two Doubles Teams (on Friday 21st July) when both pairings of Tom and Paul J, and Agnes and Cei, fought their way to wins against table topping Bradway.

Tom and Paul J especially are unrecognisable to the pairing that first played together at Millhouses at the beginning of June. Playing against two very strong bowlers they came out 21-20 victors. With Agnes and Cei winning much more comfortably, the 2 bonus aggregate points were also secured for a 4-0 match score to the MP’s.

As has been described in previous reports (https://meersbrookparkbc.org.uk/mps-secure-biggest-win-of-the-season/) the Friday Works League fixtures, while consisting of the same 4 singles and 2 doubles matches, are scored differently and indeed then divided up differently. The Friday matches contribute to 3 leagues simultaneously. There is a league for singles matches, a league for the doubles matches and a combined league.

The following tables were prior to the match with Bradway. Rather unhelpfully, as Meersbrook Bowling Club do not play in the Friday Works League, we are referred to by the administrators of this league as “Meersbrook”.

With the 4 points claimed versus Bradway, the MP’s move to within a point of the top of the table.

The singles performances are also very respectable. Good matches were played by Steve S, Andrew E, Terry and Jon on Friday, but Jon was the only winner.
