A fantastic 32 members, with a few visitors thrown in, attended the Pie and Pea Social night on Thursday 4th July. While the government was making way for a new era, the night symbolised the turnaround in Meersbrook Park’s fortunes since 2023. 15 months ago the club had just 13 members, so for both greens to be in full use – there were six games going on at one time on the top green – and members making the most of a warm evening in the beautiful setting sun, is a real testament to how far the club has come in such a short time.

The focus was certainly not all on the action on the greens, either. The Pie and Peas went down a treat. I heard several complimentary comments about the vegetarian option! The queue went all the way along the balcony and down the steps.

There was some good bowling too! Several 11’s games took place and a number of bowlers were showing a standard that is absolutely ready for league bowling.

A great evening and thanks to all who were involved in putting this on. Plans are being put together for a similar night in August.
