Any reader will see that content tends to focus on higher end competitions including inter-county matches. These, as your humble reporter understands it, are played over two venues simultaneously, with one match in each county. This is to offset the huge advantage of playing on a familiar green – an advantage magnified by not having to travel long distances. For example, if South Yorkshire were playing Shropshire, matches (normally on a Sunday and I think comprising of 12 Singles games) may take place in Sheffield and Shrewsbury at the same time.
