Jim celebrated his (about 65th) birthday with an excellent win in the Monday Night Social League match at home to Catcliffe (on 26th June).  In a nailbiter, Jim won a series of ends up and down the edge in front of the Club House before a pavilion of adoring fans.  And his wife Ellen. Jim eventually won to 19.

Captain, Terry, wasted no time in congratulating Jim on his victory. Instead he rapidly explained how he should have won by more.

Jim’s win was the only singles victory although Cei and Linda held off a strong comeback from their opponents in the first doubles game to win 21-20.

Newbie pairing of Paul T and Tom certainly did not disgrace themselves on a freshly cut, concrete-fast green.  Andrew and Steve played well.  Jon not quite so much, and the final score was a 6-2 defeat for the MP’s against a high-class opposition on a night when Jim’s win was the icing on the cake.
